The JWU Denver Baseball Team is Looking for New Recruits
The Johnson & Wales University Denver Campus Baseball Team announced Monday, May 24, 2010 that they are searching for people to fill many different positions in the team. These positions include a manager, sports writer, technology technician, recruiter, coach and players for the 2010-20111 school year. The team wants to open up these positions to help take the work load off some of the players and to let some of the students at Johnson & Wales get more involved with the team. The team also decided to involve more people in the team in a move to professionalize the team.
There are a few minimal requirements however for the team's newly opened positions. The team states that anyone interesting in a non coaching position must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at the Denver Campus of Johnson & Wales University and have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.
For the Manager position the team is looking for someone to keeps stats and help the President of the club manage the team and the website. The position may be opened to 2 people depending on availability.
For the Sports Writer position the team is looking for someone to come to games and meet with the manager to write articles on the games and publish them on the website. The position will also require that the Sports Writer assist the President of the club write other non-game related articles and publish them to the site (i.e. recent news, roster moves, game cancellations, etc).
The Technology Technician will need to be present at all games and film the game. The position will also require the Technology Technician to play walk up music for players and make a list of warm up music to play during pre-game and game break as well. The position might require the Technology Technician to help with the site maintenance. The position may be opened to 2 people.
The Recruiter will need to work closely with the President of the club in holding tryouts and choosing the Technology Technician, Manager, and Sports Writer. The Recruiter will be in charge of the Public Relations side of things (i.e. announcing games/tryouts, making posters, holding booths, fundraising, etc). The recruiter should be a player on the team.
The team is also looking for a coach of the 2010-2011 season. The coach should be knowledgeable in baseball and is allowed to bring his/her own assistant coaches. The coach should have a positive attitude and be willing to work with players to teach them to be better baseball players. The coach should also want to have fun while coaching but at the same time know when to get serious as well.
Lastly the team would like to announce that is looking for some new players for the 2010-2011 season. High school varsity is preferred but any player is welcome to try out. Players should show a deep commitment to the team and should want to win.
