Interesting Fact: Astin was offered a full ride scholarship to play Water Polo at the University of California, Los Angeles. He turned it down to come to Johnson and Wales to learn how to cook.

Bio: Astin "Papa Bear" Sparks was born on the beach in the small town of  Honolulu, Hawaii. Early on in his life Astin developed a strong love for underwater basket weaving, but his parents, turned him onto baseball. Astin has a strong arsenal of pitches ranging from a knuckle-ball to a Flibbidydibbidy-ball (if you don't know what it is, you can't afford it). Astin has often been quoted saying things like, "I'd much rather be eating a chocolate bar right now." His life philosophy revolves around his master scheme to take over Hostess and turn the Twinkie green.
